We all have dreams. From time to time many of us find ourselves imagining ourselves either doing something new or living somewhere different. These dreams needn’t be big life changing things, we could be talking about writing a short story or doing a simple bit of DIY.
So on Sunday I did my first half marathon. I was very nervous, I have only ever wracked up 15km previously so 22km was a tad daunting. However, as I pounded the pavement, desperately hoping I wouldn’t get a blister or a pull a muscle, I realised something about the task at hand. I wasn’t super human at all. There are a great many devices on the market to help you optimise your sleep. Some require the user to wear a wristband, other have sensors located under the pillow or mattress. Most of them work on the principle that human beings enter into cycles of sleep and that there are optimal times to wake. Sleep hacking technology has been with us for a little while now, and it’s one of those growth areas that is benefiting from the increase in sensors embedded in wearable technology and our smartphones.
